Sr. Manager, Market Analytics

Position Summary:

The Senior Manager of Market Analytics will be responsible for leading and managing key commercial data analytics activities to support strategic and tactical decision making for the Company’s lead product, plazomicin. Plazomicin is a novel antibiotic which recently successfully completed Phase III trials and is currently under FDA review. The Senior Manager of Market Analytics will lead and manage data analytics activities, including KPI development, performance reporting, and analysis of secondary data (e.g., IMS, patient/EMR data, etc). The successful candidate will drive brand strategy by providing a holistic, objective, and analytical viewpoint of the market and opportunities through ongoing situation assessment and understanding of market dynamics.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Support commercial decision-making, strategy development, and tactical planning by delivering concise, objective insights and recommendations about the marketplace and key stakeholders.
  • Plan and lead the execution of secondary research and data analytics projects, including deciding on appropriate methodology, developing business rules with appropriate internal input, leading/supervising implementation, analyzing results, presenting findings to internal customers, and developing actionable recommendations.
  • Develop, refine and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess performance of plazomicin and competitors at national and sub-national levels.
  • Help design and deploy high-impact performance reports, data visualizations, and dashboards to inform strategic decisions.
  • Perform ad hoc and deep dive analyses in secondary research as required to uncover and understand market and competitive dynamics.
  • Excellent working knowledge of and experience with the various methodologies of collecting and analyzing secondary data, and demonstrated understanding of the advantages and limitations of various analytical approaches.
  • Proactively identify unanswered business questions and data gaps, prioritizing resources to design and execute complex projects.
  • Keep abreast of market & industry developments to advise on incorporation of applicable trends into forecast models and scenario planning.
  • Coordinate closely across Forecasting, Market Research, and Sales Operations to promote alignment of activities, information sharing, and efficient ways of working.
  • Build, manage and maintains relationships with key vendors of secondary research, secondary data, software, and consulting services.
     

Preferred Experience:

  • 5-7 years of commercial experience in the biopharmaceutical industry and/or strategic consulting.
  • Analytical and computer skills; strong Excel-based skills (functions and pivot tables), strong PowerPoint experience and experience with dashboard tools like Tableau.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical secondary data sources (e.g., IMS, patient/EMR data, etc.)
  • Launch experience is preferred.
  • Experience working in anti-infectives and/or the hospital environment a plus.

 

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MS, PhD or MBA) a plus.
  • Advanced analytical software experience, including SAS and SQL, is a plus.

  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills, with demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to cultivate strong working relationships, including with vendors.
