Postdoctoral Researcher, Synthetic Antibody Engineer

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our Research Department and engage in innovative research at the boundary of basic and translational biomedical science that aims to reshape the process of antibody discovery. The proposed project focuses on microbial production and screening of next-generation protein-based biologics for a variety of therapeutic and diagnostic indications in infectious disease. The proposed research project will involve innovations in DNA assembly and synthetic biology, microbial engineering, imaging, microfluidics, and protein engineering, and has the potential to broadly impact the pace and scope of antibody drug discovery at Achaogen.

The Achaogen postdoctoral program is an immersive three-year opportunity designed to enable highly independent and motivated scientists to perform impactful basic or translational research in a biotech-industry setting.  Fellows will be paired with an internal scientific mentor and integrate into in a highly interdisciplinary environment, surrounded by high-caliber researchers with diverse scientific backgrounds.  We strive to empower Achaogen postdocs to make influential discoveries that result in high-impact publications and contribute to the overall goal of developing new medicines to treat drug-resistant bacterial infections.
